Last night I did a slideshow for the Northeast Prototype Modelers Meet out in Collinsville, CT. The show was on railroads at night, and went over rather well. Since I was out and about anyways, I decided to meet up with fellow photographers Nick Palazini and Dave Jodoin somewhere up on PanAm’s District 4. As [...] Yesterday we had a very nice morning – blue skies with a few whispy clouds as a precursor to the overcast we have today. I was able to get out for my walk and take advantage of the nice weather, and I caught a couple trains to boot. On Memorial Day proper we went to the Manchester, CT parade, and like usual, I wandered around as the parade progressed up Main Street. As the parade moved along, the weather got nicer, and I took quite a few pictures. The only disappointing part of the parade was the flyover. Usually the CT Air Guard [...] This past Saturday was our hometown’s Memorial Day parade. As we do every year, we head down to the town green, and watch the procession – which includes everything from current soldiers and veterans to goats and horses. I took last Friday off, and decided to take my younger daughter Callie out again for a little railfanning and photography (see this post for our last outing shooting P&W NR-4X). Since Katina was in school, Callie again got to use her camera while we were out. We had a time constraint this time, though [...] Last Thursday was another beautiful morning, and I was able to take advantage of it by taking a walk and shooting Providence & Worcester train NR-2 in Ledyard. As the tide timing worked out, I was able to get a nice angle at Stoddard Cove of NR-2 heading south through Ledyard. Took a vacation day from work today, so I’ve got a little time to catch up on some posts. For this one I’ve got some stuff from Stoddard Cove and Willimantic from Tuesday. I was able ot head out for a walk in the morning and catch Providence & Worcester train NR-2 and New England [...] This past Monday I had to take the day off for a midday doctor’s appointment. So I had a few hours to kill in the morning – why sleep when you can be out taking pictures! My intentions were to catch Providence & Worcester train NR-2 somewhere between Plainfield and Groton, then head to the [...] This past Sunday, my older daughter Katina had a birthday party to go do for a friend from school. So that left her younger sister Callie and I with an open afternoon to do what we wanted. I asked her if she’d like to go with me to photograph a train, and her answer was [...] Today I had to bring my older daughter to the dentist, and then school, so I was going into work late. As it worked out, the Providence & Worcester ran another NR-4X to Willimantic today. So I figured I could take the scenic route into work and hopefully come across the train heading west. |
