This past weekend we went to the Four Town Fair in Somers, CT for some of the usual fair stuff – rides, food, animals and of course beer. But the Four Town Fair has something else to offer – a Cowboy Mounted Shooting demonstration put on by the Connecticut Renegades, a CMS team from north-central [...] On Sunday August 16th we took the kids on a little mystery ride to check out some horsepower – not the multiple thousands of horsepower that you regular readers are used to, but rather the unit of power those ratings are derived from. Yep, we’re talking about Equus ferus caballus – actual horses. In Franklin, [...] This past weekend was the 50th Lebanon Country Fair. As we do every year, we head down the road (literally) and do the usual fair things – eat some not-so-healthy food, walk around, let the kids play games and ride the rides, and take in the events. This year there were some different things to [...] This year we unfortunately missed our hometown Independence Day fireworks in Lebanon, CT due to a family graduation party. Today is the day that we honor those who have served our country, and in some cases, fed Jefferson’s Tree of Liberty. [...] On the evening of Halloween, I kept up with my annual tradition of shooting carved and lit Jack-O-Lanterns here in town. Something I look forward to every year, and this year I wasn’t disappointed. One of the discussion groups I’m on has been talking about night photography lately. That discussion prompted me to go through my stuff and pick out some of what I thought were my better images taken between dusk and dawn – both using artificial (flash or flashlight) and natural (ambient) lighting. I’ll also [...] |
